ARAVA Leflunomide 

Arava is a pyrimidine synthesis inhibitor. It is thought to work by blocking certain enzymes responsible for abnormal tissue development or growth.

MEDICINE USES :

Aventis Leflunomide is used for treating rheumatoid arthritis by reducing signs and symptoms, improving physical function, and preventing the development of structural damage to the joints.

Pain, followed by
a red or purple skin rash that spreads especially in the face or upper body

Causes blistering
and peeling.

ARAVA LEFLUNOMIDE TABLETS PRECAUTIONS :

·        
Drinking alcohol
while you are taking Arava may increase the risk of liver problems. Talk with
your doctor before drinking alcohol while taking this medicine.

·        
The safety of
Arava in patients with inactive TB has not been confirmed. You may need to have
a TB skin test before you start Leflunomide to determine if you have TB
infection. Discuss any questions or concerns with your doctor.

·        
 Serious and
sometimes fatal liver problems have been reported with Arava. Contact your
doctor right away if you develop symptoms such as dark urine, pale stools,
yellowing of the skin or eyes, stomach pain, severe or persistent nausea
or loss of appetite, or unusual tiredness.

·        
Lab tests,
including liver function, blood pressure, and complete blood cell counts, may
be performed to monitor your progress or check for side effects. Be sure to
keep all doctor and lab appointments.

·        
 PREGNANCY
and BREAST-FEEDING: Do not use this medication if you are pregnant. It may
cause birth defects or fetal death. You must have a negative pregnancy test
before you start treatment with Leflunomide.

·        
Do no become
pregnant while you are taking it. It is not known if this medicine is found in
breast milk. Do not breast-feed while taking this medicine.

STORAGE REQUIREMENTS :

Store at 25°C (77°F); excursions permitted to 15 to 30°C (59 to 86°F).

DRUG INTERACTIONS :

Tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following:

    Methotrexate because the risk of liver problems, blood problems, or infection may be increased
    Rifampin or teriflunomide because they may increase the risk of Leflunomide’s side effects
    Anticoagulants (eg, warfarin) because the risk of its side effects, including bleeding, may be increased by Leflunomide
    Medicines that may suppress the immune system because the risk of infection or unusual bruising or bleeding may be increased. Ask your doctor if you are unsure if any of your medicines may suppress the immune system
    Medicines that may cause nerve problems, because the risk of a certain nerve side effect (burning, numbness, or tingling sensation) may be increased. Ask your doctor if you are unsure if any of you medicines may cause nerve problems
    Cholestyramine because it may decrease Leflunomide’s effectiveness
    Medicines that may harm the liver (eg, acetaminophen, methotrexate, ketoconazole, isoniazid, certain medicines for HIV infection) because the risk of liver side effects may be increased. Ask your doctor if you are unsure if any of your medicines might harm the liver

WHAT IS ARIMIDEX TABLETS?

Anastrozole lowers estrogens levels in postmenopausal women, which may slow the growth of certain types of breast tumors that need estrogens to grow in the body. This medication is classified as a “non-steroidal aromatise inhibitor.

USES OF ARIMIDEX TABLETS:

Anastrozole is used to treat breast cancer in women after menopause. Some breast cancers are made to grow faster by a natural hormone called estrogens. Anastrozole decreases the amount of estrogens the body makes and helps to slow or reverse the growth of these breast cancers.

Anastrozole is used to treat breast cancer in postmenopausal women. It is often given to women whose cancer has progressed even after taking tamoxifen. Anastrozole is an aromatise inhibitor. This means it blocks the enzyme aromatise (found in the body’s muscle, skin, breast and fat), which is used to convert androgens (hormones produced by the adrenal glands) into estrogens. Tumor cells dependent on estrogens grow less when there are no estrogens.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS:

A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.

Hotflashes, headache, troublesleeping, dizziness, stomach upset, nausea/vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, loss of appetite, weight gain, tiredness/weakness, increased coughing, or sore throat may occur. If any of these effects last or get worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS MAY INCLUDE:

Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.

Tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects, including: bone pain, easily broken bones, joint stiffness/pain, muscle pain/stiffness, mental/mood changes (such as depression), numb/tingling skin, swelling hands/ankle/feet, shortness of breath, unusual vaginal discharge/bleeding/burning/itching/ pain/redness/swelling of arms or legs, vision changes, signs of liver disease (such as nausea/vomiting that doesn’t stop, stomach/abdominal pain, yellowing eyes/skin, dark urine).

Get medical help right away if you have any very serious side effects, including: chest/jaw/left arm pain, confusion, trouble speaking, and weakness on one side of the body.

DRUGS PRECAUTIONS:

Before taking anastrozole, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.

Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: heart disease (such as history of heart attack), bone loss (osteoporosis), liver disease, high blood pressure, blood clots.

This drug may make you dizzy. Alcohol or marijuana can make you dizzier. Do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that needs alertness until you can do it safely. Limit alcoholic beverages. Talk to your doctor if you are using marijuana.

Before having surgery, tell your doctor or dentist about all the products you use (including prescription drugs, non-prescription drugs, and herbal products).
